A great way to stay active and engaged as we get older is by participating in free or low cost events, workshops and activities. They are a wonderful way to get out and about, meet new people, learn a new hobby or just to to have some fun! The Brisbane City Council offer many opportunities such as:

50 plus workshops: These include workshops in Art, Photography, Dancing (line dancing, clogging, ball room etc), Bridge, Knitting, Mahjong, Yoga, Piltaes and light exercises. They are all held at the 50 Plus Centre in Brisbane City

50 Plus Centre

The 50 Plus Centre is open to residents in South East Queensland over 50 years of age, pensioners and benefit receivers (excluding unemployment benefits).

Activities are held in the basement level of Brisbane City Hall, 64 Adelaide Street, Brisbane.

The Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm excluding public holidays.

Membership is free. You will need to provide some identification such as a driver’s licence or pension card when you lodge an application form.

BCC Libraries:

Libraries all around Brisbane have workshops in all sorts of areas, iincluding local history discussions, workshops in technology (including phone, tablet and computer basics), craft and gardening. You can find all the information at your local library or online
