The following document sets forth the Privacy Policy for My Care Specialists website, https://mycarespecialist.com.au and services.

My Care Specialist is bound by the Privacy Act 1988, which sets out a number of principles concerning the privacy of individuals.

Policy Statement

My Care Specialist (MCS) is committed to safeguarding the confidentiality of all personal and/or health information which is collected about our clients (service users) and any staff employed by My Care Specialist.

Individuals have the right to control how their personal information is collected and used, so we at MCS have created procedures that protect privacy with regards to the collection, storage and disclosure of all personal and health information.

This Privacy Policy applies to all services offered by MCS and complies with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (as amended).

Collection of Personal/Health Information

MCS only collects personal and/or health information with the consent of the individual unless in specified circumstances such as if required by law or in emergencies.

We collect information relating to individuals’ personal details and health history in order to provide the best service possible.
You are not required to provide us with any information you don’t wish to share. If you choose not to, however, we may not be able to provide all the services required for the individual.

The Use of & Disclosure Of Personal/Health Information

Information regarding staff members is collected for administrative and workplace health and safety purposes. My Care Specialist (MCS) intends to only use an individual’s personal or health information:

  • in the case of MCS’s clients or service users, in the provision of services; or
  • in the case of MCS’s employees or contractors, for administrative or workplace health and safety purposes.

MCS recognises the importance of individuals providing their personal or health information. Under no circumstance will we disclose any information about individuals without consent, except in exceptional cases, such as if the disclosure is required by law or is necessary to protect the rights or property of My Care Specialist (MCS) or any other individual, or to lessen a serious threat to a person’s health or safety.

MCS may contact individuals on the phone numbers or at the postal address provided to us for the purposes listed above.

If an individual is receiving material from MCS that they no longer wish to receive, the individual can ask that their details be removed from our mailing list at any time.

Accessing The Information We Store

If at any time an individual (client) wishes to know what personal information has been provided to us, please contact us via our contact page in the menu at the top of the page. We will then be in touch with you with the next steps.

If an individual requests access to the personal information that MCS holds about them, or to change that information, MCS will give the individual access upon request, unless it is determined to be unreasonable for the reasons set out in our Privacy Policy.

If we deny access to information, MCS will inform you of the reasons for denying this access. Where there is a dispute about the right to access information or forms of access, this will be dealt with in accordance with MCS’s privacy complaints procedure. For more information, please contact us.

Updating/Removal of The Information We Store

If at any time an individual wants to change personal information that is inaccurate or out of date, or if personal information needs to be deleted, please contact us. We will take all reasonable steps to amend or delete the information unless we need to keep it for legal or contractual reasons. If a request for change is refused MCS will set out, in writing, the reasons for this refusal. MCS assures the individual that there will be no charge for making the request or correcting any information.

Security & Storage Of Personal Information

My Care Specialist will take all reasonable steps to keep and secure any information that is held about individuals and to keep this information accurate and up to date, including information that is stored electronically. Any employees and contractors associated with MCS are obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held by us. MCS is not, however, responsible for events arising from unauthorised access to an individual’s personal information should such an event ever occur.
